After training as a Nursery Nurse, Joanne started working for Durham County Council in the 1990’s supporting pupils within an Early Years resource base for children with a range of social communication difficulties.
She completed her degree with the Open University in Diversity and Equality in Education and then gained her Postgraduate Certificates in Supporting Learning in Primary Schools and Youth: Perspectives and Practice.
Within her current role as a Senior Behaviour Support Worker, Joanne provides support and advice for pupils displaying challenging behaviours in school. Joanne completed the Therapeutic Story Writing Training with Dr Rachel Dann and for several years has regularly delivered the Therapeutic Storywriting sessions in both the off-site provision and in mainstream primary settings with pupils accessing the Early Intervention or the Crisis Response support packages.
Joanne then undertook further training with Trisha Waters in 2017 to become an Accredited Trainer.
